The Show Must Go On

It’s like living life through a lens
Playing the part, scene after scene.
Just not the right actor for the part.
Like a piece is missing.
Wanting to make the best
To be the best, but can’t quite measure up to the expectations.
Enough!
Is it?
Is something wrong, missing or fallen just too short.
Plateau.
Striving to make it work.
To make it seem better and more exciting than it is.
What now?
Is it the end?
Has the inevitable come, so soon?
As if to reap from the depths of night.
An emptiness longing to be filled.
What now?
Carry on in spite of dismay?
No. Carry on with the part.
The part that is to be played.
The show must go on.
Continue, regardless if the part fits?
Regardless of what is dying and burning inside?
Bury it.
Bury it so deep, that it can never dig its way to the surface.
Longing.
No matter what is longing inside.
Play the part.
The part that isn’t meant to be played by this actor.
Hide away what thoughts intercede.
Till the end.
The show must go on.
